Let's Celebrate Our Accomplishments

STAR Events

Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events are competitive events in which students from our FCCLA chapter can compete against members from other chapters at the regional, state, and national level. There are over 30 STAR event that students are able to participate in. The star events deal with a wide variety of topics and can be performed as a group or individually. In the project, students will be tested on their ability to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities to actively identify an issue concerning families, careers, or communities, research the topic, and develop and implement a project to advocate for positive change. Regionals 2017

During Missouri's Region 12 STAR Events Competition, our chapter had one group compete.

Macy Buzzanga (Class of 2017 and Jessica Sader (Class of 2018) competed in the STAR Event "Event Management " where they designed and planned a college dorm room. They received a gold rating at the 2017 Region 12 competition and moved on to compete at the state level. 

State 2017

During Missouri's State STAR Events Competition, our chapter had one group continue to compete.

Macy Buzzanga (Class of 2017 and Jessica Sader (Class of 2018) competed in the STAR Event "Event Management " where they designed and planned a dorm room. They received a gold rating at the 2017 Missouri State STATE Events competition. Even though the girls received a gold rating, they didn't move on to the National level because they did not receive a top two gold rating.

Regionals 2018

During Missouri's Region 12 STAR Events Competition, our chapter had three different groups compete.

Olyvia Buzzanga (Class of 2021)  and Sarah Walters (Class of 2021) competed in the STAR Event "Focus On Children" where they taught held a clothing and toys drive for a local organization, Baby Grace. They received a silver rating at the 2018 Region 12 competition and did not move on to compete at the state level.

Lauren Hagel (Class of 2020) and Shelby Parsons (Class of 2020) competed in the STAR Event "Sports Nutrition" where they planned a heathy diet for an athlete at KNHS. They received a gold rating at the 2018 Region 12 competition and moved on to compete at the state level.

Elizabeth Adkisson (Class of 2019) and Makayla Hodson (Class of 2019) competed in the STAR Event "Chapter Service Project Display" where they hosted a variety of community events to bring attention to local small businesses. They received a gold rating at the 2018 Region 12 competition and moved on to compete at the state level. ​

State 2018

Nationals 2018

During the FCCLA National STAR Events Competition, our chapter had two groups compete in the beautiful city of Atlanta, Georgia. 

Lauren Hagel (Class of 2020) and Shelby Parsons (Class of 2020) competed in the STAR Event "Sports Nutrition" where they planned a heathy diet for an athlete at KNHS. Elizabeth Adkisson (Class of 2019) and Makayla Hodson (Class of 2019) competed in the STAR Event "Chapter Service Project Display" where they hosted a variety of community events to bring attention to local small businesses. While in Atlanta they also got the opportunity to tour some famous tourist attractions such as the Georgia Aquarium and much more. At the awards ceremony they both received a silver rating and made the KNHS FCCLA chapter very proud of their achievements.

Elizabeth Adkisson (Class of 2019) and Makayla Hodson (Class of 2019) competed in the STAR Event "Promote and Publicize FCCLA!" where they hosted  a school supplies drive and donated them to the Knob Noster School District. They received a Silver rating at the 2019 Region 12 competition and did not move on to compete at the state level.

Olyvia Buzzanga (Class of 2021), Lauren Hagle (Class of 2020), and Sarah Walters (Class of 2021) competed in the STAR Event "Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation" where they designed a family friendly Bed and Breakfast on the beach. ​While in Anaheim they also got the opportunity to tour some famous tourist attractions such as the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Disney Land, The Hollywood Sign, and much more. At the awards ceremony they received a silver rating and made the KNHS FCCLA chapter very proud of their achievement.

They received a gold rating at the 2020 Region 12 competition and moved on to compete at the state level.

​Cayla Boone (Class of 2022), Shelby Parsons (Class of 2020), and Maryanne Vezino (Class of 2020) competed in the STAR Event "Chapter Service Project Display and Portfolio " where they did a series of fundraisers by using their FACS skills to raise money for the Warrensburg Animal Shelter. They received a gold rating at the 2020 Region 12 competition and moved on to compete at the state level. ​

State 2020

During Missouri's State STAR Events Competition, our chapter had two different groups compete. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the state competition got cancelled and the scores from the regional level were compared amongst the different regions in order to see who would qualify for the 2020 FCCLA Nationals.  Despite that our groups did not get the opportunity to present their improved project, they still worked hard to improve their projects in order to prepare for the competitions at the different levels to come.

During the FCCLA National STAR Events Competition, our chapter had one groups compete. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the national competition became virtual instead of in person in order to keep everyone as safe as possible. 

​Cayla Boone (Class of 2022), Shelby Parsons (Class of 2020), and Maryanne Vezino (Class of 2020) competed in the STAR Event "Chapter Service Project Display and Portfolio " where they did a series of fundraisers by using their FACS skills to raise money for the Warrensburg Animal Shelter. They received a Gold rating and made the KNHS FCCLA chapter very proud of their achievement. 


State 2021

During Missouri's State STAR Events Competition, our chapter had two different groups compete. Due to the COVID19 Pandemic, the Regional competition was cancelled and all of the groups advanced straight to the virtual state level competition. ​

Barbara Sullivan (Class of 2023), Cayla Boone (Class of 2022), and Kennedy Boyd (Class of 2022) competed in the STAR Event "Chapter Service Project Display" where they hosted open volleyball gyms for the Knob Noster Middle School volleyball team in which they worked on their on skills and self esteem to prepare the girls for high school.

Kirah Andrade (Class of 2022) competed in the STAR Event "Teach and Train" where she taught a kindergarten lesson in a cooperating teachers class. Kirah is enrolled in the class "

Nationals 2021

Regionals 2022

Kenzie Luber (Class of 2025), Zoey Schroeder (Class of 2025), and Jenna Buzzanga (Class of 2025) competed in the STAR Event "Entrepreneurship" where they developed a business plan for a cupcake bakery.

Rebekah Bohannan (Class of 2024) and Caydence Whelan (Class of 2025) competed in the STAR Event "Repurpose and Redesign" where they created a repurposed chair using a tire and red oak wood scraps.

Kirah Andrade (Class of 2022)  competed in the STAR Event "Teach and Train" where she taught a kindergarten class a lesson she prepared called "Candy Cane Counting."

Kaylee Needham (Class of 2024) and Skylar Aumen (Class of 2024) competed in the STAR Event "Chapter Service Project Display" where they made Christmas goody bags for the residents at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO that consisted of winter hats, gloves, ornaments and cards made by Knob Noster Elementary Students, and candy.
